Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County (HFHGCC) works in partnership with God and our communities to build simple, decent, affordable houses for qualified families in need of adequate shelter. Tri-County Habitat for Humanity was incorporated on October 27, 1983 by Robert Olsen, Jon Grindall, and Dave Miller, all members of the University Baptist and Brethren Church.

When HFHGCC was originally incorporated it included Centre, Clearfield and Clinton Counties. Today HFHGCC concentrates its efforts in Centre and Clinton Counties, as Clearfield County has formed their own affiliate.

HFHGCC is one of 1700 independent affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). It is governed by its own local Board of Directors and has a staff of six employees.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County is a nonprofit, nondenominational housing ministry. Habitat welcomes all people— regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference—to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter.

Habitat is able to make housing affordable to low-income families because:

• Houses are sold through a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.

• Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide vital financial support.

• Homeowners and volunteers build the houses themselves, under trained supervision.
